Northern Ireland - County Down

A short drive through the Mount Stewart grounds to a highpoint overlooking Strangford Lake is the Temple of the Winds. It is an octagonal greek style 'folly' built in the 1700s that is now available for functions such as weddings. Across the lake (very low tide!) you can see Scrabo Tower. This landmark is visible from most of north Down and was built in 1857 as a memorial to Charles Stewart, 3rd Marquis of Londonderry.
